When I started the Mai Serenity Jewelry, I had no idea what I was doing, but something profound inside me let me know I was on the right path. Besides, the incredible encouragement from my family and good friends was enough to drive me. I started with one box of beads from Hobby Lobby, and a friend helped me create a website and logo for what would become Mai Serenity Jewelry.

I became very passionate about beading, and the fact that it allowed me to work with my hands and create unique jewelry pieces made it much more enjoyable. On top of that, the way my children were fascinated by the creation I made increased my desire. Even though  I grew up wearing beads in Liberia, West Africa, especially around my waist, wearing them confidently wasn’t always a pleasure. My late grandmother made me and other young ladies wear seed beads around our waist religiously. She told me that wearing beads around my waist symbolized my feminity, sensuality, and enhancement of my beautiful figure. She inspired me to wear my beauty and be attractive confidently, which Mai Serenity strongly promotes. Mai Serenity believes that everyone (women) should be more than confident.

So, I allotted two hours a day to making jewelry. It did not matter if I made one bracelet, earring, or necklace once the two hours finished; I resumed motherly and wifely responsibility.

Mai Serenity primarily operates online, uniquely creating handmade bold statement necklaces for women, bold earrings, bracelets, and men’s jewelry. We also sell quality T-shirts that boost your confidence, watches, waist beads, and other accessories.

Products displayed on our website and social media platforms are handmade by Mai Serenity using different types of high-quality beads, such as wooden beads, old African trade/stone beads from various African countries, and a mixture of plastic, glass, and shell beads.

We are elated not only in making alluring pieces of jewelry that enhance one beauty and inspire one’s confidence, but we take great pride in supporting education and youth empowerment programs in Liberia, West Africa, by providing educational material, financial assistance, and mentorship for youths in local communities and schools in Liberia.
